View the harbor entrance, the site where the first Indian indentured workers landed and discover more about Durban's colonialist past. Then head to the Warwick Markets for an opportunity to walk the Zulu Muthi (medicine) markets as well as the Station Market and Bead Market. Discover more about the history of the proud Zulu nation and their role in today's contemporary society. Visit the Grey Street area where the Indian indentured workers set up their stores on completion of their contracts and became prosperous citizens of Durban, which led to the Asiatic act. Next stop is the historic city center where Durban's original settlers erected their shelters and effectively founded the modern city of Durban. Have a discussion on the apartheid era and the legacy of apartheid, before making your way onto a lunch stop. Enjoy lunch at one of Durban's favorite local restaurants while looking out over Durban's historic Mitchel's Park and Zoo. Finally, head to the final stop of the day, the Botanical Gardens. Durban's Botanical Gardens are the oldest surviving in Africa and offer a unique insight into the early agricultural efforts of Durban.
