Description
Board an 11-passenger boat, accredited by the South African Safety Authority for whale and dolphin watching since 2012. Two boats operate with overlapping departure times, each holding a limited whale watching permit for Durban.
Set sail into the Indian Ocean, heading towards the Mozambican current. Front-facing seats offer clear views as the skipper and crew manage the vessel from behind.
Between June and November, witness humpback whales breaching during their migration from Southern Oceans to warmer tropical waters. Observe mothers nurturing calves and playful interactions among younger whales.
The tour also offers opportunities to see dolphins riding ocean swells, turtles feeding near the surface, and a variety of birds and fish. Whales reach lengths up to 15 meters (49 feet) and weigh as much as 30 tons.
Note that boat assignments depend on availability, weather, passenger numbers, and maintenance. The cruise requires a minimum of two passengers to run.
