Description
iSimangaliso Wetlands Park, formerly Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park, is South Africa's third-largest park, covering 328,000 hectares and 280 kilometers of coastline. It hosts the country’s largest hippo populations, about 1,000 crocodiles, and a variety of birds, plants, and animals including lions, elephants, leopards, black and white rhinos, and buffalo. Marine life includes whales, dolphins, and turtles such as leatherback and loggerhead species.
After the boat tour in iSimangaliso, you travel to Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve. Your guide will take you on a safari in a closed vehicle, searching for the Big 5: lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhinoceros. Established in 1895, this 98,000-hectare reserve is South Africa's oldest park and is renowned for its white rhino conservation and the Centenary Capture Center.
The park features diverse fauna and flora across hilly landscapes. Hluhluwe section is known for its variety of bird and animal life, while Imfolozi lies to the south. Your guide will stop at Hilltop Camp restaurant for a break with views over the camp and surroundings before continuing the safari and returning to Durban.
