Description
The tour begins at Gandhi’s house in Inanda township, now a museum dedicated to his 21 years in South Africa. Gandhi regarded this period as essential to his personal achievements, shaped by the racial oppression he experienced.
In 1904, Gandhi established a Satyagraha (passive resistance) settlement in Phoenix and printed the newspaper Indian Opinion. After visiting his home, the tour includes a drive through Inanda Township, followed by stops at Umhlanga Promenade and the pier.
The tour continues to the Golden Mile to visit Durban's beaches, then to Moses Mabhida Stadium, one of Africa’s notable stadiums. Next is the Durban Botanic Gardens, featuring diverse plant species from around the world.
Following the gardens, the tour visits Victoria Street Market to explore Durban’s spices and Indian cuisine, then proceeds to Juma Masjid Mosque, one of Southern Africa’s largest mosques. The tour also includes City Hall, a neo-baroque building from the early 1900s.
The final stop is Ushaka Marine World, home to the largest aquarium in Southern Africa.
